Dogs who are not trained will NOT engage a rattlesnake, which is the most common way dogs get bit. Dogs who are trained to AVOID the scent, sound and sight of a rattlesnake. That means if they smell one, see one or here one, they will alert and AVOID it.
Dogs, when trained correctly, should not engage a snake, unlike an dogs that are not training, who are likely to engage rattlesnakes because of an interest in the sound and smell of the snake. We train with live local rattlesnakes.
Rattlesnake training doesn’t teach a dog method, but it teaches dogs to avoid the sight, sound and scent.
We are all susceptible to encountering a rattlesnake due to the area we live in and places we like to spend time in nature. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but it’s the best thing you can do to give your dog a chance.
